Pendant with Corvette Fordite cabochon set in sterling silver and set with red, white and blue cubic zirconias by BeaDyK.

  • $315.00

The focal in this sterling silver setting is vintage Corvette Fordite embellished with red, white and blue cubic zirconia's. On the back of the pendant two letter C's have been thoughtfully hand sawn for the lucky "Corvette Chick" who gets to wear this one of a kind piece.

Pendant is 2 1/4" long by 13/16" wide.
Hangs on a 16" or 18" sterling silver coil neck wire...your choice.
The clasp on this one piece wire is an easy-to-use friction style that slides securely closed.

Fordite is actually many, many layers of paint scraped from the rails that cars were spray painted on at the Ford plant in Detroit, MI. After the cars were painted they would go to an 'oven' to bake and harden the paint. They began collecting the Fordite or "Detroit Agate" back in the 1940's. When the painting process changed to powder coating sometime in the 60's and 70's there was no more to be collected.

Corvette Fordite comes from the Chevy Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Corvette has been America's sports car to many since 1953 which is why I set red, white and blue cz's on the face of the cabochon.
